After creating a scene in your new project you should set the V3D file of the main layer.
Select the main layer in the layer list. The properties of the main layer will appear in the property panel.
Selecting the V3D Filename property in the property panel, you will see a little doted button. Hit this button to select the V3D file for the main layer.
Now you should place objects in the scene.
Then you can manipulate the objects so they will fit your needs.
To test your work, you might animate or play the scene.
Finally you should export your work if you like it by clicking on Export Scene in the file menu.
