Tournaments
Tournaments can only happen inside one's own club. There are no tournaments between clubs for this version of EA SPORTS Online.
Clubs tournaments allow you to compete against other members of your club to practice and develop your online skills as well as determine who is the best player in your club. Tournaments use a two-bracket single-elimination format. Winners of each round will advance to the next round and the losers will be dropped from the tournament.
Only one tournament can exist at any given time for a particular club. The tournament history will list recently completed club tournaments.
If the system detects that a player disconnects after both players have started playing (for whatever reason), then the disconnect will be recorded and the 'disconnector' will lose the game. Disconnected games will not impact member's Ratings.
If players do not enter the tournament area before the deadline for starting the round they will forfeit the game and be dropped from the tournament.
The Club Manager has the ability to SIMULATE any pending game and END the tournament as required. When a game is simulated, the system will randomly select a winner and notify the two players of the results (simulated games will not impact member's ratings). Players would also be notified if the manager terminates the tournament.
For example: A club manager may choose to simulate a game that has no scheduled round deadline but is not being completed in a timely fashion and is now holding up other players waiting to advance to the next round.
Tournament Tabs
Within the tournament area there are four tabs: My Next Game, Schedule, Tournament Tree, and Statistics.
My Next Game Tab
This tab will display your next scheduled game and the deadline for starting that game.
If there is no active tournament an appropriate message will be displayed and the other three tabs will be disabled.
If there is an active tournament, but you have no upcoming games in the current tournament an appropriate message will be displayed but you can still view the information displayed on the other tabs.
The first player to arrive in the tournament area will be designated as the host and will control the game settings. The second player to arrive will be assigned to the Away team and be given the ability to start the game by clicking the START GAME button (only the Away team will see the START button).
The four tabs are a part of the tournament area; therefore, you can move between these four tabs and not lose your host position or your "Ready" status.
If the first player leaves the tournament area, the second player will have an opportunity to secure the host position.
The tournament Chat functionality allows you to chat with other members from your Club that are online.
Schedule Tab
The schedule will display pending and completed games. Completed games will display the final scores.
Tournament Tree Tab
The tree will display bracket A and B for a selected round. Click on tournament ladder in the middle of the screen to display other rounds.
Statistics Tab
The list will display the tournament statistics for all club members playing in the tournament.
